Peak2Peak Walk 2011
12 miles. 15 peaks. 
This is not your ordinary walk in the park.
On Peak2Peak, you'll discover hidden stairways and explore new paths, while supporting Walk SF’s work to make San Francisco a safer, more fun place for you to walk every day.
See the city like never before:
The 7th annual Peak2Peak will follow a 12-mile route up and down along the spine of the city, from Mount Davidson to Coit Tower.
You’ll cross the city over wide sidewalks, dirt trails, hidden stairways, and take in glorious views from 15 different peaks!
From climbing the slopes of Mount Olympus in the morning to enjoying the view from Coit Tower in the afternoon, this full-day walk will offer you a whole new way to see San Francisco.
The walk
is fully guided, and you’ll get directions at the event when you sign
in. You'll also be treated to a delicious picnic lunch midway through.

Be ready:
Make sure you're used to walking, and wear comfortable shoes.
- Use sunblock and bring a hat and sunglasses for shade.
- This is San Francisco, so be sure to bring a warm layer for fog.
- Bring
a water bottle; you'll be able to refill along the route.
This is an
urban walk, so coffee and snack stops are available en route. (how
civilized!)
Getting there and away:
The walk starts near the West Portal Muni station.
No transport is included as part of the walk; you can easily return downtown or to West Portal by public transit at the end of the walk. Public transit makes the city even more walkable; please consider this first. (Check out Transit and Trails to get there and get home.) If you must drive, parking should be available around West Portal in the morning.
We’ll end up in
North Beach in the late afternoon, perfect timing for a cappuccino or
perhaps a well-deserved Italian dinner. You can also join your fellow walkers at a nearby location to swap stories and celebrate over a beer!
